Who is hiring in South Africa: 1,454 employers in one week

Who is hiring in South Africa in the week to 22 October 2026, by province, employer and kind of role, from 5,452 public job adverts in Pounce's proprietary data.

Who is hiring in South Africa this week? In the seven days to 22 October 2026, Pounce counted 5,452 job adverts from 1,454 employers, from Pounce’s proprietary data on public job adverts. Recruitment agencies are left out of every figure below: an agency’s advert does not say which company is hiring. In the same week 111 agencies placed 2,695 adverts of their own.

How we count

Each advert is read once, even when the same role is advertised twice. Adverts roll up into one hiring signal per employer, town and week, so a bank advertising 40 roles in Sandton is one signal with 40 jobs in it. A business counts as hiring when at least one advert names it as the employer.

These are public adverts. Roles filled through referrals, internal moves or agencies that do not name their client never appear here.

Gauteng has the most hiring employers, but the Western Cape again punches above its weight: 629 employers hiring against Gauteng’s 805, from a much smaller base of businesses. The same pattern showed in 30 days of buying signals.

What kinds of roles

Of the adverts whose title names a field, management and team-lead roles were the most common (878), then sales and business development (673), finance and accounting (642), engineering (451) and software and IT (209). Retail and store staff (178), logistics and drivers (127), HR (119), healthcare (115) and customer service (111) followed. About a third of titles name no field we could classify and are left out of this split.

What this means if you sell to businesses

A company that is hiring is about to spend: on desks, laptops and software licences for new staff, on recruitment and training, on uniforms and on space. A business advertising 40 finance roles in a week is the clearest lead an office-furniture supplier, an IT reseller or a payroll provider will see all month.

Pounce reads these adverts every night and turns them into hiring signals on each business, next to its phone, email and the people who run it. In Pounce, filter the signals by hiring and province and export the employers for your CRM, or have every new hiring employer in your area in your morning email.

Figures from Pounce’s reading of public job adverts for the seven days to 22 October 2026. Recruitment agencies are excluded; a few adverts with no province are counted in the totals only.
