SOURCE & DATA

An atlas you can make your own.

Explore a dataset by geography, industry and recorded activity. Bring your own CSV or JSON; it stays in your browser.

Code and data are different things.

The application source is offered under the MIT license. Sample companies are fictional. Map and town references retain their own attributions. The full Pounce database, collectors, contacts and matching engine are not part of this project.

Data sources

Two fictional example datasets show how Atlas works. Choose one, or bring your own file with Import data.

What the map means

Town-level points mark town centres, not business premises. Multiple listings share a cluster. An event's project location may differ from the company's general location; its description names the event location when known. Industry clusters are a layout, not company relationships.

Recorded activity

Dates describe the supplied event record. They do not establish when the business was founded or everything that happened in that place. Empty areas and missing events are gaps in this dataset, not proof of no businesses or activity.

BRING YOUR OWN DATA

Make a place for your data.

Open a CSV or Atlas JSON file. Everything is processed on your device, with no upload or account.

CSV columns

name is required. Add sector, trade, town, province, lat, lon, precision, website. Use precision=town for town centres, exact for authorized premises coordinates, or unknown with no coordinates.

Atlas JSON also supports dated events. See the source data contract for the full schema. Invalid data is explained before anything replaces your current view.
