Pounce FAQQuestions, answered

The Pounce FAQ: where the data comes from, how fresh it is, what Pounce never does, and how to object.

What is Pounce?

Pounce is a South African data intelligence product. It shows which businesses fit what you sell, which of them just had a reason to buy (they won work, are hiring, opened, moved or started advertising), who to speak to, and how to reach them. Every fact links to where it came from.

Where does the data come from?

Public sources and Pounce’s own proprietary data: public registers (CIDB, FSCA, NCR, National Treasury, Proudly South African), government tenders and awards, the JSE’s company announcements and Competition Tribunal merger cases, the Government Gazette and the news. We never use logins, fake accounts or leaked data.

How fresh is it?

The engine runs every night. This page’s numbers are from the run on 23 Oct 2026. Tenders, awards and the news are read daily, the rest of Pounce’s proprietary data weekly or monthly.

Do you have leads that are people, not businesses?

Yes, for sellers to people and for recruiters: job seekers who posted a CV, owners selling a house or car privately, and landlords letting privately. Each is someone who posted an ad themselves; Pounce shows the ad and the way in they wrote in it, never an ID number, and anyone can ask us to remove their details. Everyone else appears only in their work role, as published by their business or a public register.

How do I object to my data being in Pounce?

Write to [email protected] with the business or name and we remove it from what customers see and from exports. The full process is on the data and privacy page.

Is there an API?

Yes, on the Growth and Agency plans: search businesses, read a full company record, match the records you already hold by website, email, phone or name, and collect new signals, your leads and open tenders as JSON. A company sent with its contact details counts as one export row, the same as a CSV. The same key connects AI apps such as Claude and ChatGPT through MCP.

Do you send emails for me?

Yes, when you switch outreach on. Pounce’s AI writes a short first email and two follow-ups for each lead you pick, from what that business just did. You approve them in one click, or read and edit each one first, and Pounce sends them from your own mailbox on weekdays, a few at a time, and stops the moment someone replies. Business addresses only, and every email carries your name and an opt-out.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The free plan needs no card: your best 10 leads a day, with why each fits, and a Monday email. Who to call, every other lead, search, outreach and exports come with a paid plan. Lite and Starter are free for 3 days: Paystack checks your card with R5, refunded at once, and nothing is charged if you cancel before the trial ends. During the trial exports are capped at 100 rows. Growth and Agency start when paid, and you can cancel any time.

Is there a setup fee or a contract?

No setup fee, no demo call, cancel any time. Plans start at R400 a month.

Does it cover all of South Africa?

Yes: all nine provinces. Coverage is strongest where most businesses are (Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape) and we publish what we hold on the coverage page.
